Welcome! Here you'll find contemporary landscape paintings inspired by the constant changes to the Earth's surface that take place on a geological timescale. I try to make these processes visible in the paintings.
A solo exhibition 'A Return to the Coast' runs from Sunday 7th April to Tuesday 30th April 2024 in the cafe/bar at City Screen, York. Go to News for the latest update.
You can view my paintings and prints by clicking on any of the pictures below and by going to Galleries on the menu. The current exhibition includes all the paintings in the Brantwood 24, Morecambe Bay, and Geology Squares galleries. To comment or to buy a painting please go to Contact.
Proceeds from all sales up to 30th April 2024 will go to Tree Aid. Tree Aid works with people in the drylands of Africa. Led by local people, Tree Aid projects are tackling poverty and the effects of the climate crisis by growing trees, improving incomes, and restoring and protecting land (more information here).
A pleasant picture gallery. Mild strokes, strong composition. Realistic refelection and presentation of nature, environement, some portion of solitudes. Admiration, best wishes and solidarity to Phil Entwistle and his work. Happiness and long life.
hi Phil I am always interested in other artists work who share a passion for the amazing natural sculptures that are the Earth. I sometimes wonder what I’m doing when you see the real thing, but it doesn’t stop me. Found your paintings on London Geological society website brilliant!
Hi Jeremy. Thanks for your kind comments, it’s good to hear from you. We had a great time in Australia, and though sketching was very limited by our schedule I came back with masses of photos of rocks, which may lead to some paintings before long.
If you’re agreeable I’ll add you to my list for very occasional emails when I have exhibitions coming up.
Best wishes,
Phil
I am an old school friend of your friend Roger Donbavand who sent me your ’ Tumbling Beck’ greetings card on my birthday. I have been looking at your range of artwork which is very impressive. Roger and Janet often talk about their visits to you and yours to them. One day our paths may cross. I hope you had a good time with them in Australia when you were down under. Did you get any sketches done while you were there. Great work. All the best. Jeremy
Hello Phil Entwistle,
I discovered your work when I met Chris Commarie when we were staying with him for awhile. Our son in law, a climber in London introduced us to Chris. I am an artist in the states, and I love your work. I do want to keep in touch that I might buy one of your pieces for myself or Marcus, our climber in the family…All the Best,
beth
Can’t wait to see your next exhibition here at Brantwood
